Taste of the Heart - Gold Award - Opus Restaurant

The award-winning Opus Restaurant added another 'gong' to its ever-growing collection when it scooped the Taste of the Heart best restaurant award at a glittering ceremony at the Birmingham's ICC.
Part of the prestigious Heart of England Excellence in Tourism Awards, the Taste of the Heart gold award was sponsored by The Gastro Card - the Midlands' very own discount dining card.

The Opus, in Cornwall Street, Birmingham, whose Irene Allan and David Colcombe collected their award from BBC presenters Nick Owen and Suzanne Virdee and Trevor Land of The Gastro Card.
The awards celebrated the very best in tourism from Birmingham, The Black Country, Staffordshire, Coventry and Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Herefordshire.
Brian Summers, chairman of Tourism West Midlands said, 'The calibre of the winners is the highest I have ever seen. The wonderful ceremony last night made me very proud to be involved in tourism - which is truly at the heart of the West Midlands' economy and culture.'
Now all gold award winners from the night will be entered into the national Enjoy England Awards to represent the West Midlands in early 2010.
For The Gastro Card director Trevor Land said: 'It was a fantastic evening, just the sort of thing we want to be associated with. The Gastro Card encourages people to eat locally with the discounts it offers. The more people dining out locally the better it is for local restaurants, food suppliers and the Midlands economy as a whole.'
