Warwickshire CCC Launch
Cricket stars back Gastro Card
Howzatt!
Warwickshire's County Cricket Club has teamed up with the region's very own dining card to provide a winning combination for sport-loving food fans.
Former Ashes winners Ashley Giles and Ian Bell will be amongst the club's top players and officials who will now be carrying the Gastro Card when eating out in the West Midlands.
The card will also be presented to all the club's top players and management team members as well as to some Executive Club
members.
Abi Dollery, grand-daughter of former Warwickshire captain Tom Dollery, said the Edgbaston club was delighted to team up with Gastro Card and was sure it would be a big hit with players and members alike.
'As well as great discounts, card-holders also know that all the restaurants in the scheme have been checked and vetted to ensure they offer top quality food in great surroundings - it takes the headache out of choosing where to go for a meal,' she said.
Gastro Card was launched by former NEC exhibitions director Trevor Land and former accountant Geoff Abbott. It offers exclusive discounts at many of the area's top dining venues. One Michelin-starred restaurant is offering card-holders a three course lunch for just £13.50 while many others offer as much as 25 per cent off food bills.
The cards, which will be specially branded for Warwickshire CCC, will say 'Edgbaston is proud of its links with Gastro Card.'
'This is a fantastic partnership for us at Gastro Card,' explained Trevor Land. 'The cricket club is held in great esteem throughout the county and having 'The Bears' endorse our product really does say a lot about the value of becoming a card-holder.'
